State Representative Jennifer Garrison (D-Marietta) released the following statement this afternoon in response to the Governor’s State of the State Address:

“I was glad to hear the Governor focus his speech on the issues Ohioans care about – creating jobs. Since Ohio is number one in the nation in creating advanced energy jobs, I was pleased to see the Governor’s plan focus on that strength. By creating incentives for businesses to open and expand in Ohio, especially in the advanced and renewable energy field, we are rebuilding a strong foundation for our state’s economy to grow and prosper for generations to come.

Our long-term investments in education are already showing results. Education Week currently ranks Ohio 1st in the Midwest and 5th in the nation in terms of school quality, and the Education Commission of the States just today announced Ohio’s system of education, with reforms included in last year’s budget bill, as the most innovative public school system in the country.”
