On 21 Jan 10 Sgt. Hornbeck and Deputy Sheriff Sheaves encountered an illegal dumpsite while on patrol in the vicinity of mile marker 1.5 on Swift Road in Waterford Township. The Deputies located mail they believe belongs to the suspects and are attempting to locate them. This case remains under investigation.
On 26 Jan 10 Kristi L. Dutton, age 34, 275 Goose Run Road, Marietta, reported her sixteen year old daughter lied about spending the night with a friend on 24 Jan and instead parked her 2001 Chevy Malibu at Devol’s Dam and stayed with other friends in Devola. Ms. Dutton stated when her daughter returned to the vehicle it appeared to have been wrecked, mud was caked around the vehicle and items inside the vehicle were strewn about the interior. Preliminary interviews conducted by Deputy Sheriff Mankins indicate the individual responsible is the teenager who resides at the home Ms. Dutton’s daughter visited. The suspect reportedly took $40 cash and the keys from Ms. Dutton’s daughter’s purse, spent the money and joyrided through Devola, damaging a number of yards. This case remains under investigation.
On 26 Jan 10 Deputy Sheriff Mankins charged Jerry L. Dismukes, age 38, 7633 Stahlin Street, Detroit, MI, with a fifth degree felony charge of assault. At the Washington County Jail around 7:25 pm, Corrections Officer Reeder was handing out towels when Mr. Dismukes, an inmate at the jail, took a second towel. Mr. Dismukes refused twice to return the extra towel and when CO Reeder asked him to step back, the inmate stated “let’s do this then.” At that point, Mr. Dismukes grabbed CO Reeder’s uniform and shoved him up onto a sink. A brief struggle followed and CO Reeder broke free. CO Reeder suffered minor scratches to his face and arms but was otherwise uninjured.
The following suspects were processed into the Washington County Jail between Tuesday 26 Jan 10 and Wednesday 27 Jan 10:
John Peter Nichols, age 45, 845 County House Lane, Marietta, for violating the terms of his parole, a misdemeanor. Nichols was arrested at the Adult Parole office by Deputy Sheriff O’Brien and processed into the Washington County Jail on 26 Jan 10 at 10:30 am.
Travis Matthew Tuttle, age 134 Sixth Avenue, Paden City, WV, for three felony counts of theft and for a misdemeanor charge of driving under an FRA suspended license. Tuttle was picked up at the North Central Regional Jail was by Deputy Sheriff Malone and processed into the Washington County Jail on 26 Jan 10 at 12:41 pm.
There are currently eighty-five men and seventeen women being housed in the Washington County Jail.
