CONVICTED DRUG TRAFFICKER ARRESTED ON DRUG CHARGES

Edward Minke, age 42, 3790 Bells Run Road, Newport, was arrested on a third degree felony charge of trafficking in Oxycontin following the execution of a search warrant at his residence by Agents of the Major Crimes Task Force. Previously convicted of trafficking and subsequently serving fifteen months in prison, Minke has been under investigation since August 2009. A target who is allegedly engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity, Minke has sold confidential informants various quantities of cocaine, marijuana and prescription drugs on a number of occasions. Today’s search warrant of Minke’s residence yielded $1,518 in cash, marijuana, prescription pill bottles, plastic baggies containing pills, drug paraphernalia, Oxycontin pills and cocaine.

Though Minke was arrested on a single charge of selling an undercover operative ten, eighty milligram Oxycontin pills on 29 Nov 09, additional evidence, including that supporting a pattern of corrupt activity charge and five other drug trafficking charges will be forwarded to the Prosecutor’s Office for grand jury consideration.

The Major Crimes Task Force is a multi-faceted organization composed of representatives from the Marietta Police Departments; the Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Identification and the Morgan and Washington County Prosecuting Attorney and Sheriff’s Offices.
